Procedure

Procedure

The following is a description of the flow from the estimate for official translation of official documents to delivery of the product.

yRequest for Estimate for Translation of Documents such as Certified Copies of Family Registersz

Request for translations
Enquiries regarding charges for documents such as certified copies of family registers, certification of information recorded on foreign resident registration files and certificates of residence and lead time for the translation process may be made by telephone, facsimile, e-mail or mail form.

ySending Documents to be translated and Necessary Informationz

It is important to advise us of address, postal code and phone number.
For the purposes of translation of certified copies of family registers, we require a list of all individual names in English including, for example, the names of persons whose names have been removed from the register and grandparents. Care must be taken in preparing the list since in some cases, there may be more than one spelling for the same name. For example, the Japanese surname gKatoh may also be spelled gKatoh.h Additionally, because the familiar pronunciation of names may differ slightly from the formal, clearer pronunciation due to the use of voiced consonant marks not used in the formal pronunciation, names recorded in the passports of the persons concerned should be used when compiling lists. Although as a rule, the readings of place names such as permanent residences, places of birth and former family registers are not required, it would be helpful if advice could be provided on the readings of obscure place names. Originals of lists of individual names in English and other documents should be forwarded to our translation office by an express delivery service.
